The Gilded Lady by Elizabeth Camden

53158106. sx318 sy475

ABOUT THE BOOK

Secretary to the first lady of the United States, Caroline Delacroix is at the pinnacle of high society--but is hiding a terrible secret. Immediately suspicious of Caroline, but also attracted to her, secret service agent Nathaniel Trask must battle his growing love for her as the threat to the president rises and they face adventure, heartbreak, and danger.

MY REVIEW

Another wonderful book by Elizabeth Camden. I truly love her writing style and her ability to bring the characters from the Gilded Age to life so that we may come to know them in their element.
I know that this is going to sound crazy but I think that Ida McKinley is my favorite first lady. I think the reason is because she's so misunderstood. She can't help her medical condition. Some think she's selfish and self absorbed. I really don't think so. I found her quite interesting!
I liked this couple because their relationship reminds me of my in laws. Such opposites attract. I loved the President's personality. His love for life and people. I enjoyed getting to know this special couple.
Two of my other favorites are of course Nathaniel and Caroline. I've never witnessed a better team than they were!
Life has a way of changing all of us does it not? Some for better or worse. I think it's how we approach it.
A verse from Ephesians is in here and it's a gentle reminder that life is always changing. It never stays the same.
Always tell someone you love them because tomorrow isn't promised. I like that reminder. I only wished I could have told my mom but I think in her own understanding she knew that I loved her. We just had a weird way of showing it to each other
Just so you know that counterfeit runs very rampant in even today's times. It's never a good thing.
I've ran into counterfeit money only a couple of times. It's a wonder I didn't lose my job or that I had to pay it back!
However; I did learn my lesson the hard way.
I do highly recommend a box of tissue by your side because there are some spots in this book that will make you cry. I'm not normally a crier but wow! This sure did!
Lots of espionage, secrecy, murder, mystery and romance included in this wonderful tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more, more! I love that in a book.
She also kept me guessing until the very end of the book and I definitely love those types of books!
I took my time to read this book because I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to savor this book but it still ended too quickly and now I have to wait for the third book waaaaaaaa!
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. It really does deserve it!
I highly recommend this book and be sure to keep a box of tissues beside you because you'll need them!

MY REVIEW

This was a new to me author whose story I really enjoyed.
It is also the first in a new series too!
The author has done an excellent job in making her characters realistic and believable.
A wonderful can't put down book until you finish it.
I liked it because it offered 2nd chances something that we don't usually get in real life.
While I couldn't connect with the characters it was still entertaining to me and helped to pass the time in this dreadful pandemic.
I'm so glad I love to read. I couldn't imagine missing out on beautiful stories such as this one or get to meet wonderful authors such as this one.
Isn't the cover of this book beautiful? It draws me right into the book immediately.
I give this book 5 stars.
My thanks to the author and Prism Tours for a copy of this book

About the Author

I'm a Georgia girl at heart if not by birth. I love to read, watch college football, and spend time with my husband. I'm a hopeless romantic so there will always be a happily ever after in my stories. I also like to write about second chances because love doesn't always work out the first time.

My books are sweet romances set in both contemporary and regency settings featuring stories about the journey to love, from that first meeting to the point where two people know their hearts are no longer their own. My characters aren't perfect. They make mistakes and have faults like the rest of us. They learn the sometimes painful truth that the path to love isn't always smooth, but it's a road worth traveling.

The Lost Lieutenant by Erica Vetsch

ABOUT THE BOOK

He's doing what he can to save the Prince Regent's life . . . but can he save his new marriage as well? Evan Eldridge never meant to be a war hero--he just wanted to fight Napoleon for the future of his country. And he certainly didn't think that saving the life of a peer would mean being made the Earl of Whitelock. But when the life you save is dear to the Prince Regent, things can change in a hurry.

Now Evan has a new title, a manor house in shambles, and a stranger for a bride, all thrust upon him by a grateful ruler. What he doesn't have are all his memories. Traumatized as a result of his wounds and bravery on the battlefield, Evan knows there's something he can't quite remember. It's important, dangerous--and if he doesn't recall it in time, will jeopardize not only his marriage but someone's very life.

Readers who enjoy Julie Klassen, Carolyn Miller, and Kristi Ann Hunter will love diving into this brand-new Regency series filled with suspense, aristocratic struggles, and a firm foundation of faith.

 MY REVIEW

A fabulous story! I just finished this and I absolutely loved it!
Wonderful characters with a great plot! Oh my what more could a reader ask for! Oh and we can't forget the bit of mystery either.
Vestch certainly knows how to grab a readers attention immediately and stay interested until the book is finished. I love how she writes that's for sure!
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed getting to know Diana and Evan.
They are two of the most fascinating people you'll ever want to know.
I am still thinking about them even after I have just finished this story a few minutes ago. They will make you do that.
God works in mysterious ways to be sure. No two people could be more different and I enjoyed seeing God's hands in this situation.
Secrets do have a way of coming out no matter how hard you try to hide them. So, in this case I have to feel sorry for Evan. I kept rooting for him throughout the whole story. He can be by my side any time of the day! My hero!
The supporting characters were very well rounded out and I didn't particularly like some of them! I don't like the aristocrats anyway but they are in a way an interesting bunch. I'm certainly glad I'm not like them! I'm not sure I'd like it.
How sad that you aren't allowed to be yourself if you were born in that group.
However; Diana is a very special person. She has grit and is determined to set things right and I love that about her.
I highly recommend this book

MY REVIEW

Since I had to wait so long for this book which by the way was so worth the wait I ended up borrowing a copy from Netgalley. Thank goodness for Netgalley!
My first ever Bradley book and I very much enjoyed this book! I really wish that I could give it more than 5 stars.  Her style of writing is astounding! I'm a fan for life.
Lot of action with twists and turns that will keep your interest throughout the book. The plot was awesome! I was holding my breath as each layer kept coming uncovered in this novel. I loved the tension, anxiety, fear all of those things wrapped up into one. The perfect ingredients for a wonderful story. The author does a good job of keeping you guessing until the end on the person who did the dirty deed so to speak.
This is a clean read with Jesus mentioned as the Truth, way and the life and I really liked how the author has added that God has plans for each and every one of us. Which is true. It's only in HIs own time not ours.  It's not preachy not by any means. I thought she did really well in this regards.
My heart went out to Brooke when everything that was happening in Natchez Trace hit close to home.
I know it isn't easy to loose someone who is very close to you. No one deserves that.
I liked this story too because it offers second chances. I think everyone needs a second chance don't you? The Lord certainly does.
I really enjoyed my travels down south even though it was so hot I thought I was going to suffocate. No, really it's  just my imagination running wild. I've never been to this place so I thank the author that I can travel without leaving the comfort of my home. Although I'd love to visit someday.
There are some subjects (marijuana)  that might offend some readers but overall I thought the whole story was nicely done.
I highly recommend this story! Especially for Christian Suspense readers.
I received this book courtesy of Baker Publishing Group/Revell through Interviews & Reviews.

On a Coastal Breeze by Suzanne Wood Fisher

53114683

ABOUT THE BOOK

Series: Three Sisters Island (Book 2)
  • Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Revell; 4/2 edition (May 5, 2020)

Everything happens for a reason, Maddie Grayson believes. But her motto gets sorely tested when the new minister parachutes into town and offers her a chance to change what happens next.

MY REVIEW

Suzanne Woods Fisher is best known for her Amish books so when I seen this series I knew I had to read it.
This book was such a delightful read and so is the author who wrote it. I love anything she writes!
I like how she makes her characters' feelings seem realistic and I can feel them coming out at me throughout the story.
Fear has a stronghold on these women's lives and it's what's holding each member of Maddy's family back.
I like how Woods gives us a look inside each family member and what really holds them back from being what they truly can be.
People can change but only if they want to. Rick is just such one character. I enjoyed him immensely. A Marine turned Pastor wow! You're in for a wonderful treat!
Suzanne weaves some wonderful messages throughout this book without being preachy about it. I like that.
I like this saying" Once you know a truth you can't unknow it." How true this is. Sometimes when you know a truth it changes in how you look at yourself as a person or it can change in how you look at the other person if that makes sense?
Maddy is my favorite person in the family. I think I like her because she's just like everyone else. She has fears, doubts and many other feelings. I love how she takes time out to analyze her feelings for life in general. Sometimes it takes time for her to process certain events in her life.
I'm the same way. It takes time for me to process things in my life. Especially the bad things. In other words it takes time for me to forgive. When I do it sets me free. Forgiving is hard I know but it's the best especially if we want to be Christ like minded. The truth will also set you free.
She's certainly got a tough job in the family that's for sure! One I sure wouldn't want but apparently I am.
Poor little Coop. Such a sweet little feller. All of us have anxieties in life but I think it's the kids who are hit the hardest. He's had so much change in his life.  It's hard for him to process. I'm still rooting for you little guy! You've stolen my heart!
I was happy to see Peg back! I think she's got an even tougher job. I've been there and done that. I admire her spunk, courage and a good attitude towards people. She reminds me of Taco Charlie.
A very moving, well written book. One I enjoyed immensely! I didn't want to say goodbye to Maddy or her family!
I highly recommend this book and you'll be thinking about the characters long after the story is finished. Especially Paul. What will happen to him?
Will each family member face their fears or will they keep running away from them? You'll just have to read this awesome book to find out!
My thanks to Netgalley and Revell for a complimentary copy. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.

Storing up Trouble by Jen Turner Turano

53145986. sx318 sy475

ABOUT THE BOOK

When Beatrix Waterbury's train is disrupted by a heist, scientist Norman Nesbit comes to her aid. After another encounter, he is swept up in the havoc she always seems to attract--including the attention of the men trying to steal his research--and they'll soon discover the curious way feelings can grow between two very different people in the midst of chaos.

MY REVIEW

Hats off to Jen Turano again! She never disappoints me with one of her books. I try to never miss one so I was a happy camper when I came across this book.
I'd say this lady would be a fun person to be around if her books are anything like she is. I believe that her personality does come out in her books so think I have a pretty good idea. More please!
If you want some giggles come along for the ride in this exciting story and fall in love with Beatrix and Norman.
I especially liked Gladys because everyone thought she was odd. I think she was just misunderstood like I am sometimes! For this reason she was my most favorite character.

I especially liked how she gives us a look at the sufferagate movement. Hats off to those ladies! I admire your courage and determination to let us women have a say so!
Along the way I truly enjoyed how these characters grew into the wonderful people I knew they could be.
Life does have a way of opening our eyes doesn't it? Sometimes including the changes that we don't want.
Well, I actually let time get away from me because this story was so exciting I just couldn't put it down!
There wasn't anything that I didn't like from this book. It was all so good! I think I'm going to purchase a print copy when it comes out!
Woo hoo!
In my opinion this book deserves five stars or more!
My thanks to Netgalley and Bethany House for a copy of this book.
