ABOUT THE BOOK

Munich, 1938. Evelyn Brand is an American foreign correspondent as determined to prove her worth in a male-dominated profession as she is to expose the growing tyranny in Nazi Germany. To do so, she must walk a thin line. If she offends the government, she could be expelled from the country--or worse. If she fails to truthfully report on major stories, she'll never be able to give a voice to the oppressed--and wake up the folks back home.

In another part of the city, American graduate student Peter Lang is working on his PhD in German. Disillusioned with the chaos in the world due to the Great Depression, he is impressed with the prosperity and order of German society. But when the brutality of the regime hits close, he discovers a far better way to use his contacts within the Nazi party--to feed information to the shrewd reporter he can't get off his mind.

This electric standalone novel from fan-favorite Sarah Sundin puts you right at the intersection of pulse-pounding suspense and heart-stopping romance.

MY REVIEW

Sundin has brought history to life once again only this time bringing reporters and other events to life.
I like Sundin's style of writing. She pulls her readers into her stories with gusto and you'll not want to put the book down.
This book had my heart pounding the whole time! Some great suspense!
I know one thing, I'm glad I wasn't born back then. Too much unrest in Germany.  Germany has had a very interesting and sad history. I don't like how the Jewish people were treated. They're human just like us and even more sad was that Hitler was part Jewish himself.
Another thing I loved was that I learned a few new things about Germany.  I won't say what they are because I don't want to spoil it for others.
I enjoyed the banter between Evelyn and Peter. In my opinion, they made a great team!
Evelyn tickled me pink! I love that the author has made her strong, independent and yes sometimes stubborn. She was a delight and a woman before her time.
Yes, she did have her flaws but then don't we all?
I'm not sure if this is a quote or not but I liked it.
" If you stay on your side of the ocean, you let things settle as they should. But if you choose, you can tip the balance one way or the other. " That is why we need friends in America. "
Folks we need friends no matter where we are.
I recommend highly. 5 stars!
My thanks for a copy of this book.
I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
